Yes AND No?
You may be familiar with what is called "stage hypnosis". While designed for fun and entertainment, it is NOT designed to change unwanted thoughts and/or behaviors. It is often intended for ... well, fun and entertainment.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic version of the word hypnosis ... Although often used interchangeably by some (hypnosis and hypnotherapy), both bring what is called a trance-like state in which one has a heightened focus and concentration. At Maine Hypnosis LLC, I prefer to use the term Hypnotherapy instead of Hypnosis, so as to not confuse it with what you may have already seen or heard. In addition, I offer some Clinical Counseling skills and insight, that might not be offered in a typical "hypnosis" session.
Hypnotherapist vs Hypnosis – Hypnotherapy is performed by a certified and experienced therapist. Working together, we can rewire your old self-sabotaging patterns quickly and often, permanently. Why? Because hypnotherapy creates a state from which you are able to make extremely powerful changes in your life.
Who Can Perform Hypnotherapy?
All hypnotherapy is performed by a Certified Hypnotherapist
Training/Education - Hypnotherapists must undergo extensive training prior to practicing, and often spend many more hours earning specialization certifications and 200 supervised client hours . Because of this extended training, hypnotherapists generally have a much broader knowledge base in the area of hypnosis.
*Did you know? Contrary to popular belief, you can’t be hypnotised into doing things against your will. You also can’t be forced into a hypnotic state. It must be something the client ALLOWS, and this includes the suggestions. It is a voluntary altering of your own consciousness, and you are always in control. In other words, all hypnosis is a form of self hypnosis. We will work as a team.
Positive Changes begin and end with YOU!
